There is something enjoyable and relaxing about going for a nice drive in the countryside. Around the winding roads, going places where there are so few cars that the roads seem to be just your own. Some cars are suitable for a drive like that, others are more suitable for motorways or town driving.

In order to see over the hedgerows you need an elevated seating position. In order to be protected against tractors, walls, gates or animals, you need a sturdy car. To maintain the peace and tranquility quiet cars should be taken to the countryside.  There are often no garages for miles around, so you need to fill up with fuel, and have a car that is fuel efficient.

Once you have the right car, it is just a matter of having some drinks, snacks and some driving music and hitting the open, winding roads with the windows down, enjoying the fresh air and the country drive.

There are some additional features that are beneficial to country driving, such as Four-Wheel drive, anti-locking brakes, high elevation to drive through the puddles and drive over the obstacles on the road. Size is important, having a car that is too big might not be able to navigate the small roads. Having a car that is too small would mean a cramped country drive.

Here are a list of cars that you could consider purchasing or renting for your drives around the countryside
