Does the car you drive reflect your personality?
They say a dog owner often looks like their pet, and it might be true that dog-lovers choose the breed and look of their faithful friend based on their personaility, but does the car you choose to drive say something about you too?
Maybe you yourself judge others based on the car they drive? Have you ever met someone for the first time for example and, when you find out which car they drive, instantly have a preconceived opinion about them?
Amazingly enough, there has been extensive research into this fascinating subject and it does indeed reveal that there are in fact some connections between personaility and the car you drive.
Forget for a moment the age-old stereotypes of the boy-racer zooming around in a souped-up Vauxhall Nova or the Alan Partridge-type travelling salesman in his comfy saloon. The car you drive can say a lot about your age, demographics and even your political leanings!
For example, VW drivers tend to be aged 40-59 from Wales, shopping at John Lewis or Waitrose and listening to Elbow. Vauxhall drivers bank at Lloyds, shop at Asda and tend to be dog-lovers mainly from East Anglia.
Toyota drivers fit into the 60-plus age bracket hailing from the south coast, love a bit of James Bond, eat fillet steak and love gardening while if you drive a Skoda there’s a good chance you’re ex-military living north of the border in Scotland and shopping at Co-op!
Cat-loving Renault drivers love to listen to Take That and tend to be female aged between 40 and 59; Mini owners generally live in London, work in advertising/marketing and love to play tennis in theuir spare time. Finally, Ford owners like a bit of Paul McCartney, a lamb curry, play gofl and shop at Morrisons.
All a bit of harmless fun of course – but does it remind you of someone you know?
