Jobs: How Many Is Too Many?

How Many Jobs Is Too Many?

Here at Match Me we ask you for 3 years employment history because we know that the trusted panel of lenders that we work with also require information about your jobs. But why? What does it mean if you have one job for 5 years or you have 5 jobs in one year? And how should that affect an application for car finance?

Job Hopper, or Job Stopper?

On average, people will change jobs 15 times in their lifetime. That seems a lot right? How does that affect applications for finance? If you are the kind of person who is in steady, ongoing employment, with the same employer all your life, are you really more reliable and responsible than someone who jumps from job to job on a regular basis?

On our application form we ask the question and we want 3 years of employment history, because that is what our lenders are looking for. The lenders want to see where you have been for 3 years, what jobs you have had, if there is an upward progression or a downward trend in salaries and employment positions. This information can affect some applications with some lenders, but there is always a valid reason for changing jobs.

Gone are the days when you start a job after school, and retire in the same office some 40 years later. Moving jobs every few years can be beneficial. It can mean more money, faster promotions, better benefits, and can keep your brain engaged in learning and development.

Gaps to be filled or to be explained?

Match Me is not a recruitment company, we do not care if you have gaps in employment, but we are looking for your address history and your employment history so that we can find you the best loan that meets your circumstances. Some lenders take life events into account when offering loans, to try to calculate the risk of lending and the possibility of you defaulting on your loan.

At Match Me, our job is to find the best loan for you, Match you with the best lender and Match you with the best car. If you are happy, we are happy. Our application form asks for the last 3 years of employment history and if you can not provide it, we will ask you to fill in the gaps, so that we can find the best lender for you.

If you have had 10 jobs in 3 years, or one job in 10 years, the only difference to us is the time that it will take you to fill out our application form and the time that it can take to process your application through our panel of lenders.

Match Me is here to Match You to your car so you can drive your dream.
